Our Favourite Prosumer Cameras
If you're looking for a camera of professional standard but you can't quite afford those steep prices, a Prosumer camera is an excellent alternative.

Canon EOS 6DThe EOS 6D is the newest entrant in this upper portion, and sits among the enthusiasts cameras, beside the EOS 60D and EOS 7D and will, in many peoples' eyes, be immediately more appealing than either of those on account of the size of its sensor.

Nikon D600The lure of a full-frame sensor can be sufficient to drive many users towards an upgrade. It's busy pushing chips of that size into more of its mid-range models, among which sits the D600. It's a chunky beast of a camera, and heavy with it, but it's packed with all the controls and features you might ever need to make best use of its monster resolution.

Sony Alpha SLT-A77VOverall, the SLT-A77V delivers a solid noise profile for its class, and generally excellent photo and video. On JPEGs, you can see just a hair of degradation on edges at ISO 800, but casually noticeable noise-suppression artefacts don't kick in until ISO 1600. If you process raw, the camera's good up to ISO 3200--possibly ISO 6400, depending upon subject matter. If you shoot raw, it delivers roughly comparable photo quality to the Canon EOS 7D.
